Pemerintah Iran akan memblokir layanan dan situs, seperti Google, Hotmail, dan Yahoo. Situs e-mail dan mesin pencari populer itu akan diganti dengan situs buatan Iran sendiri, seperti Iran Mail dan Iran Search Engine.
Saat ini, pemerintah telah membuka membuka proses registrasi bagi masyarakat yang tertarik menggunakan Iran Mail.
Masyarakat Iran sudah terbiasa dengan sensor. Negara yang dipimpin Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ini beberapa kali memutus akses internet pada awal tahun 2012. Terakhir, mereka memblokir akses ke semua situs web luar negeri yang beroperasi pada protokol Secure Socket Layer.
